New spaces, friendly faces

Hey Everybody,

We have exciting news for our Portland Casual Jams audience and supporters of the new Community Jams nonprofit!

First, I’d like to thank Jennifer, our compassionate host at Schiller Street, as well as all of the people who made that studio our home over the past three years. We thrive through the loving gifts of those who support us.

Room 107 “Heaven” at Swaha Studios where we will start jamming soon!

New Jam Location:

While we continue to search for a more permanent studio location, we recently selected a jam site at Swaha Studios, a friendly host and fellow believer in the healing value of music. Swaha Studios comprises three rehearsal rooms in the healing and lifestyle center at 12th and Division. As monthly tenants, we will add our live-music workshops to their calendar of yoga, music lessons, jams, and movement workshops. Our own focus on live music as a healthy-living choice nestles comfortably under their mission.

Our jams will primarily occur in room 107 which includes access to a central large meeting area, convenient adjacent nightspot for socializing and decompressing before and after the jams, kitchenette for special functions, and multiple studio choices complete with cool alternative music-related events already scheduled! Check out Swaha Studios at Swahastudios.com to see why we’re so excited!

New ways to support Community Jams:

We keep adding ways for you to participate and support Community Jams! New merchandise, more media and youtube videos, new crowdfunding Patreon campaign for monthly support, new outreach music programs, new workshops and jams to offer to help utilize our new studio space, and new faces as we meet our new Swaha friends!

First come share our music at the La Strada Chalk Art festival:

Saturday, August 10, from 2:00pm – 3:30pm

Cedar Hills Crossing Shopping Complex

3205 SW Cedar Hills Blvd

Beaverton, OR 97005

We’ll start with a little warmup from the host band, and then we’ll ask our friends to join us and jam, one song at a time. Come on out, bring your portable instrument if your song demands it, and sign up on meetup to lead a song at the jam from our music app on bsteele.com. Help keep our new friends at the Chalk Art Festival playing alongside us on simple, jam-friendly songs. Plus, Chalk Art! And Live Music! Much Zen!

To wear some support for Community Jams, check out our new t-shirts on Zazzle.com. Customize them to rock your own look for Community Jams!

We’ll be posting new information, workshops, and events at CommunityJams.org in the coming week. To keep Community Jams running smoothly, we’ll also launch an important crowdfunding campaign through Patreon.

Thank you all for your ongoing support as we take a breath, do some yoga, play some music and restart our search for a long-term studio space. I’m sincerely grateful for the lessons I am learning and the opportunities we’ve all given each other.  Keep playing music together!
